Go-Live Achieved In Record 4 Months

Wipro Infotech, the India and Middle East IT Business of Wipro Ltd and a leading provider of IT and business transformation services announced that it has implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 for HPCL-Mittal Energy Limited (HMEL) in India. This is a unique implementation that has been completed in a record time of 4 months.
HMEL is building a Grassroots oil refinery of 9 MMTPA at Bathinda in Punjab, called Guru Gobind Singh Refinery Project. The project is expected to be completed by early 2011. The SAP project was conceived to enable complete and integrated Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) for HMEL's refinery business in India.
Wipro was chosen to lead the implementation and bring in its strong domain expertise in the energy segment. The work on the project commenced in mid November 2008 and got completed in March 2009. The implementation covering 11 modules, was done as per schedule.
Speaking on the occasion of the go-live, Mr V. Anantharaman, Vice President-Finance, HMEL said "We are very pleased to have gone live with the SAP implementation at HMEL. With the implementation of SAP, HMEL will significantly realize benefits by improving efficiencies in processes such as 'Acquire to Retire', 'Procure to Pay' which are critical during project construction and bring in transparency into their business. Significant benefits are also expected through integration of business processes, standardized systems, processes & controls and improved efficiencies.
With the implementation of Governance Risk & Compliance, the company will also enable a strong internal audit of its business processes.
The major SAP modules that have been implemented in HMEL are Finance & Controlling, Materials Management, Human Resources, Project Systems, Document Management Systems and Business Intelligence.

HPCL-Mittal Energy Limited (HMEL) is a joint venture between Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and Mittal Energy Investment Pte Ltd, Singapore - a Lakshmi N Mittal Group Company.
