SPR’s EWAM Project will deliver re-engineered business processes and replacement solutions for SPR's transmission & distribution operations
Bangalore, India, November 14, 2007
Wipro Technologies, the global IT services division of Wipro Limited(NYSE:WIT), today announced that it has been selected by Sierra Pacific Resources (SPR) as the systems integrator for SPR’s mission-critical and transformational Enterprise Work and Asset Management (EWAM) Project.
Headquartered in Nevada, Sierra Pacific Resources is one of the U.S.A’s fastest growing investor-owned utilities. Through its chief operating subsidiaries, Nevada Power Company and Sierra Pacific Power Company, SPR delivers electricity to nearly 1.2 million customers and natural gas to over 145,000 customers across a service area that covers over 54,531 square miles.
The EWAM Project initiative will establish new and standardized transmission and distribution operations for SPR’s two operating utility companies for both the electric and gas businesses. The project will deliver re-engineered business processes and integrated systems to increase the effectiveness of T&D assets across their entire lifecycle. The project scope includes T&D infrastructure planning, design, estimating, budgeting, scheduling, construction, and closing, as well as the recording, maintaining, and tracking of SPR’s distribution, transmission and substation assets.
The EWAM solution will be built on the IBM/MRO Maximo MXES work and asset management product, ClickSchedule’s schedule and dispatch functionality and Primavera P6 for capital project and portfolio management. EWAM will also deliver advanced business intelligence capability and will be fully integrated with SPR’s core business applications including ERP, supply chain, customer information & billing, outage management and GIS.
Wipro and their partner New Dimension Solutions Inc. (NDS) will provide process re-design, systems integration, training, and business change management services.
“We are excited about this partnership with Wipro and NDS to complete the re-design work initiated internally over eighteen months ago”, according to Craig Pinneo, SPR’s Project Director. “We selected Wipro for this major undertaking because Wipro thoroughly understood what we were trying to accomplish from the very beginning and has an excellent track record of solution delivery. We are confident they will successfully integrate the multiple software platforms to deliver the required functionality, flexibility and user experience.”
Tamal Dasgupta, Senior Vice President of Wipro’s Energy & Utilities practice stated: “We are delighted to be SPR’s partner for the EWAM initiative. Wipro will leverage its experience from successfully implementing large-scale EAM solutions, the capabilities of our EAM Centers of Excellence, our alliance with IBM/MRO Maximo and partnership with New Dimension Solutions Inc. The EWAM solution will strongly position SPR to sustain its delivery of superior T&D service in its fast-growing service territory.”
