In Orissa, after the cyclone
Wipro Cares contribution is a testimony to its philosophy where Wipro Cares worked on the ground to contribute where the need was felt.
In Orissa, after the cyclone, we had detailed discussions with the survivors and in response to their needs; we constructed a cyclone-proof school-cum-shelter at the Ramtara, in Erasama-Orissa, India.
The shelter is equipped with facilities such as bore wells, HAM radio sets and life jackets. This 3 storied multi purpose structure is at par with international standards, has a cyclone warning system and can shelter 1,000 people in it. It functions as a well equipped school when there is no calamity.
Our efforts are always linked to the needs of the survivors and are executed along with the community
In Gujarat after the earth quake,
When the Wipro Cares team visited Gujarat after the earthquake in 2001, the most glaring need was some kind of treatment for bone injuries. Most survivors had broken a limb or the back and they needed medical help.

A mobile physio therapy van which went around the villages providing physio therapy to the victims of the earth quake in Gujarat

We first provided mobile X-ray and physiotherapy unit and provided medical services in 200 villages affected by the earthquake. Later on, set up a Paraplegic center at Nagarpal, Gujarat to accommodate 50 patients.
Apart from this, we helped re-construct several school buildings that were damaged by the quake.
