Speeds Effective Verification of Wireless and Consumer SoC Designs, Reduces Risk for Verification Engineers across Development Organizations
Lustenau, Austria, August 27, 2007
Wipro-NewLogic, the semiconductor IP business unit of Wipro Technologies, the global IT services arm of Wipro Limited [NYSE:WIT], today announced that Cadence Design Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CDNS), the leader in global electronic-design innovation, is licensing Wipro-NewLogic’s IEEE 802.11 a/b/g MAC and Modem for integration into its SoC Functional Verification Kit. By selecting Wipro-NewLogic technology to be integrated into the wireless segment representative design included with the kit, Cadence® is giving designers the verification capabilities they need to solve the challenges associated with developing and verifying an 802.11 WLAN-enabled SoC.
“Our customers face the challenge of verifying increasingly complex SoCs that target wireless applications like Voice over Wireless LAN and mobile multimedia clients,” said Mana Coste, Marketing Director at Wipro-NewLogic. “Including our silicon-proven 802.11 Wireless LAN IP in Cadence’s SoC Functional Verification Kit allows verification engineers to see how the kit’s Incisive® Plan-to-Closure Methodology and flows can be applied to a real wireless design.”
The Cadence SoC Functional Verification Kit provides a proven end-to-end methodology covering block-level designer verification to chip- and system-level advanced verification, automating Incisive Plan-to-Closure Methodology comprehension and implementation. The kit includes complete example verification plans, transaction-level and cycle-accurate models, design and verification IP, scripts and libraries--all proven on a wireless segment representative design.
“We selected Wipro-NewLogic for its proven leadership in the wireless LAN IP space that is being used today for mobile phones, PDAs, digital cameras and performance-oriented applications such as DSL/Cable modems,” said John Brennan, director, product marketing, Vertical Kits at Cadence. “The company’s deep expertise, along with its robust wireless LAN design with an all-digital radio interface, allows us to demonstrate how to apply the verification techniques needed when designing a complex wireless SoC.”
The Wipro-NewLogic IP solution features low-power operation and support for the latest Wi-Fi® specifications like WPA2
TM and WMM®. Customers can contact Wipro-NewLogic directly for production license information.
